Do you have a regular skincare routine? If so, that’s great and you should. Today I am sharing a few mistakes you might not even know you are making when it comes to skincare. Skincare doesn’t have to be hard, and it is so important!

Do You Make These 8 Skincare Mistakes?

1. Morning & Evening Routines

You wash your face in the morning, so that’s good enough right? No. You should have both a morning and evening routine. Your routines will most likely be different though, for example your morning routine might just be cleansing and moisturizing with an SPF where your nightly routine might be using cleanser, toner, serums, moisturizer, eye cream, etc.

2. Body Lotion on Your Face?

All moisturizers are not created equal, you should first determine your skin’s needs (ex. dryness, dullness, discoloration, etc) and then find a moisturizer that’s right for your face. Using a body lotions are not suitable for your face, they are too heavy most of the time. You’ll also want to use a facial moisturizer because they are loaded with other things your delicate face needs, like collagen or peptides.

3. Exfoliation

If you aren’t scrubbing away dead skin cells, they are clogging your pores which makes you break out. I just wrote an entire article on why exfoliating is important and how to do it. Read that here, you’ll thank me later.

4. SPF

If you aren’t using an SPF you need to be Sun damage breaks down your skin’s structure, leading to wrinkles and sagging/old looking skin (& WHO wants that). GET a moisturizer or BB cream with SPF, like yesterday.

5. Rough Around Your Eye Area

Skin around this area is really thin making it really easy to damage, take it easy! Your under eye area is the most delicate area on your face so be very gentle. This is an area that needs to be extremely moisturized as well because it loses it’s elasticity quickest. Use an under eye cream/moisturizer every night.

6. Moisturizer

Keeping a moisturized face will help you prevent aging, and don’t forget your neck. You can even use a coconut oil at night or to remove makeup for added moisture. I wrote an entire article on this topic as well because its so important. You can read that here, don’t forget!

7. No Breakouts = No Routines

Wrong! Cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and SPF are all really important even if you have great skin to begin with. Moisturizing alone is extremely important in preventing signs of aging.

8. You’re a Picker

This is the hardest thing for me, if it’s there I just want to get rid of it! It is so important to just slap a spot treatment on it and leave it alone, if you don’t the bacteria will spread and cause more breakouts.
