Something that’s been important to me lately is not only taking the right supplements but making sure the quality is the best. Collagen is super popular and I’ve been drinking it for years but not really consistently. Now that I’m 30 I have made it my goal to drink collagen every single day along with my other supplements. My daughter (Emery who is 4) jokes about it and tells everyone “mom’s 30 so she drinks collagen” and they think it’s funny + crazy that she even knows what that is. But it really is important to me now and I’m going to share why and a new brand I have recently discovered, Smarter Nutrition.

Quality Matters

Just like I talk about the quality of oils all the time, the quality of supplements is important too. Smarter Nutrition holds their standards high. “We don’t cut costs with generic powders or cheap synthetics. What does Collagen Do?

Collagen is an important part of our skin, along with hyaluronic acid and elastin. Our collagen production declines by 1.5% by the age of 20 and then down 25% by age 40, and then 50% by age 60. This is why it’s so important to start supporting our bodies now to prevent premature aging and then to age with grace. Not all collagen is created the same there is either bovine or marine collagen, and being a pescatarian I have to go with the marine formula. Lucky for me it’s actually the better route and works better than bovine. Basically collagen helps plump skin and reduce wrinkles, it’s also clinically proven to work. How I Drink It

The first time I mixed up the collagen I just added 2 scoops to room temp water and drank it. To be honest it wasn’t the best and I didn’t love it. The next day I added 2 scoops to my blender with water and mixed it up that way then poured it over ice. It was 100x times better and frothy like a shake, I totally recommend doing it that way.
